Overview
A two-day learning session in a sacred grove environment, focusing on perception, attention, and image-making in situ.
DAY 1 — EVENING
Orientation & Context
* Introduction to the site
* Readings on the Keezputtupet Sacred Grove and the Guardian Deities of Tamil Nadu
The evening visit establishes the sensory and cultural frame within which the next day’s visual practice will take place.

DAY 2 — MORNING ONWARDS
* Witnessing Distance / Proximity & Lensing
* Relational Composition (Isolation / Inclusion)
* Depth & Focus — Foreground / Midground / Background
* Attention & Reciprocal Attention
* Photographic Shot vs Cinematic Shot
* Editing for Cinematographers
* Listening as a Cinematographic Act
* The Ephemeral & Illusive Image

Note:
* Carry a mat if possible
* Location will be shared after sign-up
* Intermittent rain is possible

FACULTY PROFILE:
Rrivu Laha
graduated from St. Xaviers College Calcutta in Mass Communication and Video Production in 2003; he later did a post graduate diploma in Motion Picture Cinematography from Film and Television Institute of India, Pune in 2007. He works as a documentary filmmaker and a cinematographer. After a decade-long practice based in Mumbai, in 2017 Rrivu Laha moved to Auroville. In Auroville Rrivu founded ‘Auroville Timelines’, a media pedagogy and video arts unit,  researching and curating recorded memories of Auroville – creating mnemonics of ‘the dream’. In 2019, he co-founded ‘Auroville Film Institute’, working there as a creative director and curriculum designer.
