OVERVIEW

‘A family that steals together stays together’

Deceptively fly on the wall, deeply humanist and subversive – Putul Mahmood  (Turquaaz Firozi) will do a close study of Character and Plot Flips in – Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda’s 2018 Cannes winner film ‘Shoplifters’. 

 SCHEDULE:

(Sat-Sun) 6th & 7th of March 2021; 2:30 to 6:30 pm IST. (ONLINE)

It is mandatory that the participants watch the film once before attending the session.

Method of Training and Interaction: The session will be conducted online on ‘Google Meet’. Details will be shared with selected participants in time.

Suggested Contribution for the session: 

₹750 – For Indian Nationals

$15 – For International applicants from SAARC nations ( i.e Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka)

$40 – From international applicants outside of SAARC association.

Course director: Putul Mahmood  (Turquaaz Firozi) 

Putul Mahmood, an alumna of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), is a filmmaker, producer and teacher. She is the producer of the indie Bengali feature film Cosmic Sex and has directed several short fiction and documentary films including You Who Never Arrived featuring Irrfan Khan and Geetanjali Kulkarni, Man of Silence- Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, I Shoot U, Atasi and Three Sisters. Atasi won the Best Film Silver Conch (under 60 mins category) at MIFF 2020. 

Putul Mahmood also works as a Script Consultant on short fiction and feature films- Serious Men on Netflix is one of her recent works in that capacity. 

Putul Mahmood is currently an Associate Professor in the Direction and Screenplay Writing Department of the Satyajit Ray Film and TV Institute in Kolkata.
